(This balkanised version of China is of 1970s vintage from a Free Tibet movement inspired website. It does not cater for Manchuria for obvious reasons)

{ This is a pure work of fiction. Resemblance to actual actors/players or countries is intended but not implied.}

The situation was now clearing up, the Mandate Authorities had met off the coast of Japan on board an American warship USS Reagan, only now instead of Japan, the representative of China was signatory to the surrender, a surrender which Japan had insisted must take place in territorial waters of Japan in the Sea of Japan, because of the stellar role the Japanese SDF had played in the campaign that had concluded.

The acts of randomness have more than a semblance of appearing preordained, for this alteration of global order was unimaginable just a year back. No one in 2019 even would have said that PRC or the CCP ruled China would meet such a fate, but it did. That a coalition of nations of Asia backed by US and Russia would bring this about. If Japan insisted on the venue, Korea insisted on what came first, the celebration of the Korean reunification, one that had been divided with the rise of the CCP in China and which had split the Korean peoples and their peninsula for seven decades! People on board with all their military paraphernalia and ceremony, stood by the clock, for the ‘muhurat’ was set by the safe return of the Dalai Lama, who was being received by the reinstated Panchen Lama at the borders of Tibet, Tibet which was now with the seat of Patola Palace reopened and ready, going to be the Buddhist Kingdom she was on the roof of the world. The Indian Army’s elements had started taking over new border positions along the Kun Lun Shan, Nan Shan Xining, Kanting and Batang as per the Mandate for the period of 5 years till such time the Tibetan Border forces could be raised trained and take over from them.

East Turkistan’s Pale Blue star and crescent flag would unfurl at Kashgar, the former ancient capital of Karahanid Kingdom, for East Turkistan is the homeland of Asia’s first nomadic tribes who are called “Turks” who actually are Uyghurs.

The Mandate created Manchuria where Japanese forces had demarcated the boundaries and Mangolia was allowed to unite with ‘Inner Mongolia’ under Russian military presence like how the Koreas were. Proposal to cleave China itself from coastal Canton, as a territory that could include Hong Kong and Macau were yet to be clearedhttps://www.wikiwand.com/simple/Separatist_movements_of_China. The hardened posture of Asian nations was very difficult for the Western Compact to pacify and satisfy. Vietnam had considerable military presence in the area, moving in quickly before the armistice was declared, but their demands were yet to be negotiated in Paris.

CCP China must be viewed as USSR was, an apparent monolith held by a totalitarian communist regime.(Image Wikipedia)

Taiwan finally won her right as a victor and was recognised as a full fledged independent nation she wanted to be. It would seem that the Western compact was largely undoing its own folly at the height of the Imperial era, when it offered undue space and representation to China, viewing the Chinese as ‘White Asians’, in contrast to how they had dealt with India as part of the British Empire. They had compounded their folly by endorsing a ‘One China’ policy for five decades too.The world had learnt the hard way, and the Western Alliance had held only because the CCP had under President Xi overextended itself, throwing far too much weight to their own military capabilities and believing as it were, their own propaganda films of mechanised columns liberating territories unopposed.

It has begun with the year 2020, marked clearly in PLA calendar as the year for completing the transformation, it was premised on effectiveness of the PLARF’s anti Shipping Missiles the DF21D and DF-26https://www.reuters.com/investigates/special-report/china-army-rockets/. It was marked by President Xi’s own reading of India’s Premier Mr Modi in more than a dozen encounters, his interactions with ASEAN leaders and President Xi’s own sense of destiny and his belief that the opportune moment for the Chinese under his CCP paramountcy to settle all her borders and strategic issues on her terms, from Ladakh and Southern Tibet( Arunachal) to Haishenwai ( Vladivostok) of ‘Outer Mongolia’ including the prized capture of Taiwan, China’s renegade, the unfinished business of Chairman Mao. Under this campaign goal, Xi saw an opportunity to be the greatest Chinese Emperor in modern times, far greater than even Chairman Mao, which would offer him a peace and an opportunity to change China after his fashion, without the couterpulls of Jiang Zemin faction in the CCP.

He could have revised his plans, when first Australian Prime Minister Mr Scott Morrison proclaimed a ‘Climate of Strategic Uncertainty’, but he had used that very statement to convince the Central Military Commission to take him more seriously. It had allowed the foreign minister Wang Yi ( who was his oldest cabinet member since 2013) unleashing ‘Wolf Diplomacy’. He could have revised his plans when Mr Modi denied any PLA presence in Ladakh despite the occupation of nearly 1000 Sq Km of Indian side of the LAC under forces of the Western Theatre Command, and refused to name China even once for the months when the tensions were building up. But it was more handy tool for his own cheerleaders to sneer at the Indians, a spirit of discounting them which had percolated quickly to the front ranks of the PLA deployed against the Indians. Even the steady build up, the toughening of positions along the Tibetan border by Indians was not a cause for concern, instead he had been advised to call for strengthening Tibet’s borders in retort! The American President was seen as an ally, his Secretary of State was seen as a loud buffoon, nick named ‘Pompous Pompeo’ by his English speaking Foreign Affairs spokeswoman! From being sent to a labour camp as a boy, to arriving as President for Life, https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/aug/18/cai-xia-chinese-insider-hits-out-at-xi-jinping-he-killed-a-party-and-a-country it was an unmistakable signal that destiny had chosen him to deliver his dreams for CCP and the Chinese! The rumours could not be squelched. Did he take his life after taking those of his star spouse and only daughter or was the CSB that took their lives before the the Zemin faction overwhelmed them in an act of an internal coup to prevent further military losses to the CCP?

History will read this differently comparing Xi unfairly with Hitler when he was not the proprietor of Chinese expansionism, for the goals that the PLA under him attempted to military take on were set by the CCP long before he came to fore, under the blanket that Deng had weaved called ‘Peaceful Rise’. Was Xi impatient and premature? Would the Chinese gambit a decade later have worked better? The calculation that the pandemic had weakened the Western World was largely wrong, though it had been a huge set back to their economies at that time. The calculation that Americans and ASEAN were soft pussies who would back off when push came to shove proved wrong. The 5G roll out by Huawei would have offered the CCP untrammelled access to global digital communications, but it was meant for only commercial exploitation with little military significance. Why had the Americans seized on it and campaigned against Huawei? Even banning of Apps by India or Tiktok and We Chat by USA were silly if they were meant to be signals. It was not the fault of the Chinese people that suddenly the world saw the Uighur internment camps, the Mongolian School protests for imposition of mandarin and Hanisation of autonomous regions including Tibet, the security law for Hong Kong as a form of genocidal approach. After all even Germans run ‘integration courses’ for refugees and mandate that immigrants must learn their language!https://www.infomigrants.net/en/post/16814/integration-courses-in-germany-what-are-they-and-who-can-take-part

The Western Compact realised apparently that it had made the mistake, backing the wrong horse as the stablising anchor for Asia, one that would deliver western liberal values and capitalism to that continent and not challenge the hegemony of the West that had started from the colonial area in the early Industrial Age. So they now shifted gear, dismantled their erstwhile protege state of China and now batted for India…This was being presented as necessary ‘balkanisation of China’ to preserve world peace and stability and to conserve the progress humanity had made and the cohesion it needed to combat the greatest threat of Climate Change! When the Central Asiatic and Indic subcontinent was balkanised in the period from 1930-1950, the Chinese were the greatest beneficiaries. So was it a pay back now? Or would India rekindle pages from her own imperial past? Time and India’s polity will tell…

[ The end of Chinese Compact before it even arrived is seen in the crystal glass, read in the tea leaves. The momentum of forces operating globally, connecting the various levers and fulcrums has been ongoing since 2000, first recognised by India of all nations. After all the victor gets to write the story and so it has been written.]
